Now that Spring has arrived, the Burrowing Owls have left Berkeley and returned to their summering grounds somewhere North. On one of my final visits to see the owls, I found myself captivated by the antics of the ground squirrels.

There are quite a few ground squirrels at Cesar Chavez park. And I would admit that I often do not pay much attention to them. But they are cute little creatures.

And they provide a helpful service to the burrowing owls, who use some of the many burrows that the squirrels dig. So I thought it would be appropriate to take a few photos of these squirrels and offer a thank you on behalf of the lovely burrowing owls.
